BIOL 478 - Animal Systematics, Phylogeny, and Diversity This research tutorial exposes students to the theory and practice of systematics and their application to the study of animal ecology, evolution, and diversity. Topics include population genetics of marine and terrestrial invertebrates, biogeography of deep-sea hot vent animals, the spread of invasive species, and the biodiversity of threatened ecosystems. In the laboratory, students pursue independent research projects using molecular techniques and phylogenetic analytical methods.
