HIST 327 - Authoritarianism, Dictatorship, and Democracy in the Caribbean (GL) Examines the political development of the Caribbean from European occupation and colonization to the present. The imperial and societal foundations of authoritarianism in the Caribbean are studied, as are the popular democratic impulses arising especially since the end of slavery and culminating in self-governing “democratic” political regimes.
