ALST 227 - Civil Rights and Civil Fights: The History of the Long Civil Rights Movement in the United States Designed as a historical and interdisciplinary course that provides a deep and thorough examination of the “long civil rights movement” among African Americans and their allies during the 20th and early 21st century United States, with attention to the structure of racial inequality, movement philosophies and strategies, white allies and opponents, relationships to other freedom movements, and the movement’s historical legacies with the Black Lives Matter Movement and #SayHerName.
