THEA 254 - Acting I An introduction to acting as art, discipline and craft. Provides a practical and theoretical introduction to the basic skills of acting. Consists of individual and ensemble exercises to develop physical awareness, concentration, and imagination. Aimed at enhancing self-confidence, expressiveness, and creativity. Acting teaches poise and presence, vocal and physical coordination. Through corporeal exercises, improvisations, play analysis, and scene work students acquire a working vocabulary in the fundamentals of acting. Culminates with in-class performance work. No prior acting experience is required.
