CHEM 461 - Organic Reaction Mechanisms In this half-semester course, a detailed study of organic reaction mechanisms is presented. Key mechanistic pathways are examined. Proposal of plausible mechanisms for organic reactions, experiments used to gain insight into reaction mechanisms, and the importance of mechanistic insight toward the practical application of organic reactions are considered. Classic organic reactions as well as recent examples from the primary literature are discussed.
